He Was Left To Die Under A Log…Until He Was Sniffed Out By An Unlikely Angel

We came across the story of Roscoe through an image sharing site. A young woman named Lia, along with her boyfriend, rescued and saved the tiny kitten.

The story actually begins with Lia’s puppy Opie finding Roscoe in a field behind their apartment building.  Poor Roscoe was found under a log and covered with maggots. Opie refused to leave the baby kitten, and before they knew it they were bringing him home.

As you can see from the photographs, Roscoe went from near death at only 2 days old to a healthy young cat. We commend his rescuers and owners for loving and caring for this beautiful creature back to optimal health.  We also commend his best dog friend Opie for sniffing him out and never leaving his side.  I’m sure they’ll be the best friends forever!

A little furry crew member: a tiny rescued kitten prowls around TV station.

KENS 5 & Kens5.com employees found quite the cute surprise hiding under a vehicle in their back parking lot. The precious kitten was about a week old or so. KENS 5 Facebook friends were asked to give her a name. They voted and chose Kensie. Little Kensie was rescued by KENS 5 National Sales Manager Jana Willborn and, according to the KENS 5 Facebook page, they decided that they will keep the rescued kitten.

Yesterday my husband Alexandre found a young Magellanic Penguin at the beach! He was surfing when he saw the penguin. The poor little guy was very exhausted and barely able to lift his head. Alexandre took the penguin and put him on his surfboard (yes, the penguin had to surf a little bit) and came back to shore. At home he called the Instituto Argonauta, in Ubatuba (North of São Paulo, Brazil). The biologist, Dr. Danilo Camba, said we must keep the penguin warm and dry in a box, with towels. He arrived about 40 minutes after we called him and took the penguin to the veterinary hospital. In this album you can see the pictures of the little penguin and my cat Pelanca (the penguin babysitter, very proud of herself). Definitely one of the most beautiful things that ever happened to us.  :)

"The Magellanic penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus) lives along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of South America. The eastern population breeds in large colonies in Argentina and migrates north as far as Southwest Brazil between March and September. Some are rescued, rehabilitated, nursed back to health. Scientists believe that climate variations altered ocean currents and where penguins could find food, requiring them to travel farther from shore. There, younger and inexperienced birds were taken by strong currents and ended up in Brazil, thousands of miles away from their home. In addition to being exhausted, some penguins were coated with oil and seemed to be suffering from pollution-related illness."
