Via barc for life:
As October approaches, BARC will discuss an unsettling topic.
In addition to the reoccurring indignities/injustices the black coated animal faces, October ups the ante.
It is a time when these animals are adopted and used as props, decorations etc. After the festivities, the same animals are released onto the street. Micro chipping has served as a deterrent in some cases.
October is also a time of rituals, religious observances and sacrifices…
After much debate, BARC has decided to explore these topics and share the stories.

EMACIATED HOMELESS CAT FINDS A LOVING HUMAN
Meet Minnie the cat. She was really skinny and sick when her human mom first found her. Joss didn’t intend of getting a cat but just don’t have a heart to let the kitten suffer when she knows that the feline needed her help.
Joss usually leave their doors open due to the heat. One night, she was sitting in her bedroom when a skinny little cat walked right in the house and plopped down on the floor as if to say: I’m here, now save me.
Joss said, “She was deathly skinny. Could hardly even keep her eyes open and basically slept the entire time in my arms like a baby. I felt so sorry for her so I spent the night with her wondering what the hell am I gonna do! The next day I went out and when I came back she was gone. I was so worried. I told my friends, if they see her, don’t let her go! I will take her.”
“About 4 days later, a neighbour found her and kept her for me till I got home. So the next day I took her to the vet and happily discovered she was healthy, just very malnourished. She would only eat if you hand fed her apparently. So I did this all week. Slowly she fattened up and before our eyes, became an animated kitten full of energy. I called her Minnie because she was the tiniest skinniest cat I had ever seen.”
“She follows me like a dog..I think she might be part dog. She eats everything: papaya, sunflower seeds, peanuts…probably so grateful from the days of no food that she endured. She meows at me as though she is trying to talk and as long as you talk to her, she always gives a meow back each time. She is my protector, I live in the jungle and every night she is always prowling around the house…makes me feel so safe and I love her company. She loves to make friends: at my old place, she had 4 puppy friends, 2 dogs and 2 kittens that were her BFF’s haha!”
“I am on holiday this year in Thailand…I never intended to get a cat but she literally walked into my life and my heart just melted. Not many cats get saved as she did here in Thailand. I am so happy that I could at least give one stray a chance at a good life.”

Alaa, an ambulance driver, feeds cats in Masaken Hanano in Aleppo. Alaa buys about $4 of meat everyday to feed about 150 abandoned cats in Masaken Hanano, a neigbourhood in Aleppo that has been deserted because of shelling from forces loyal to Syria’s President Bashar Al-Assad. Alaa said that he has been feeding and taking care of the cats for over 2 months.
